About 125 Western Battery Road — The Tower at King West
Located at 125 Western Battery Road, The Tower at King West is somewhat of an unassuming building, one with a slight case of identity confusion… despite what the name suggests, it’s actually situated in the Liberty Village neighbourhood. But in defence of the developers, this property is just steps from King West and if you call this building home, you could make a case for either neighbourhood.
Standing 30 storeys tall with an exterior constructed of red brick and glass panels, this building was completed in 2013, but has a more traditional look than most modern condos. However, beyond the exterior, this property is modern in every way and holds its own against other buildings in the neighbourhood.
In addition to a great location, this building provides residents with an extensive list of extras — fitness centre, party room, games room, media room, library, shared rooftop deck, concierge, security guard, and parking garage.
Given the youthful vibe of both Liberty Village and King West, this property is best suited to young professionals, couples, and small families. First time home buyers might be able to get their foot in the door here, but prices could be too high for most.
The Suites
The Tower at King West is home to 438 suites, ranging in size from 493 square feet for a 1 bedroom to 1355 for a 2 bedroom + den. All units are open concept and maximize square footage, as well, units are well lit with natural light thanks to floor to ceiling windows.
Prospective buyers will likely find a lot to love about this building, especially when they see the high end finishes found within these suites — hardwood floors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, marble backsplashes in the kitchen, and private balconies.
Another enticing aspect of this property, is that the average price per square foot is below that of most Toronto condos for sale, mkaing this a great choice for first time buyers or those on a tight budget.
As nice as these units are, you’re not going to want to spend all of your time inside, especially when you consider the exciting nightlife and dining options found just outside your front door.
The Neighbourhood
Liberty Village is trendy to say the least — with so many bars, restaurants, and cafes in the area, and more opening all the time, residents always have something new to keep them occupied.
For morning coffee — that’s a cut above what you make at home — you can stroll to Ciao Europa Café, Aroma Espresso Bar, Balzac's Liberty Village, Arvo Coffee, and Liberty Village Market & Café. Or if you’re feeling very Canadian, you can always get a double-double at Tim Hortons on E Liberty Street.
On nights when you’re too lazy to cook, you can make your way west for Maurya East Indian Roti, Williams Landing, Mildred's Temple Kitchen, School, and more. Or you can walk to King Street for a vast selection of acclaimed restaurants like Lee, Lavelle, Home of the Brave, Masseria, and Wilbur Mexicana; when the weekend rolls around, many of these restaurants are open late.
Liberty Village is best known for its trendy bars, of which there are many — from 125 Western Battery Road you’re only minutes from craft beer at Brazen Head Irish Pub, Local Liberty Village, The Craft Brasserie & Grille, 3 Brewers Liberty, and Liberty Commons at Big Rock Brewery. For more options, residents can trot over to King West for pubs, or the Entertainment District for even more pubs, dance clubs, and Toronto’s best attractions.
Transportation
125 Western Battery Road boast a 92 Walk Score — residents of this property can easily run errands on foot, as there are many service based businesses and stores in the area; for grocery runs, Metro and Liberty Market Building are within walking distance, and Shoppers Drug Mart is on King for prescription pickups.
Public transit users have a great starting point for their morning commute; there are bus stops for route 63 on E Liberty Street for travel north. On King Street you have east and westbound streetcars, with service to St. Andrew Station for subway lines. Plus, Exhibition Station is less than a 10 minute walk away for GO Transit.
Downtown Toronto is not renowned for its driver friendly streets and most residents would prefer to leave the car at home if possible; however, if you do need to drive, you can reach the Gardiner Expressway quickly by heading south on Strachan Ave to the Lake Shore Blvd for the nearest on-ramp.
